Our Philosophy

The Verona Area High School Music Department is dedicated to providing a comprehensive music education for all students regardless of their prior skill or knowledge. While the ensembles form the program's foundation, we also offer a range of opportunities, including music production, piano, guitar, and more. We aim to inspire students to explore their creative expression through performance, composition, improvisation, and a comprehensive understanding of music, fostering musical and personal growth. Students develop a well-rounded understanding of music through our varied curriculum, engaging with different styles and techniques. The musical experiences that our students have will shape them to thrive in a diverse global society.

At our department's core is the belief that music creates a sense of belonging and connection. It is the "heartbeat" that unites students within our department and connects them with their community through shared musical pursuits. We encourage students to establish meaningful connections with one another and their community through music. We aspire for students to carry these connections and a profound appreciation for music into their adult lives. Doing so enriches their personal experiences and contributes positively to their broader communities.
